PCI DSS Compliance for Viatel Data Centres

Viatel Technology Group achieved PCI DSS v4.0.1 compliance for its Irish data centre services after an independent assessor completed its review in June 2026.

PCI DSS (Payment Card Information Data Security Standard) is particularly important for organisations in retail and financial services, where secure environments are essential for handling card data. It is a widely recognised standard that organisations accepting, processing, storing, or transmitting card payments expect their data centre providers to meet.

The certification relates specifically to Viatel’s colocation services. The review examined how the data centre is run on a day-to-day basis, including how access to the facility is controlled, how visitors are managed, and how the environment is monitored. It also covered internal practices such as security policies, staff awareness, and incident response processes.

Alongside this, Viatel has also received its 2026 data centre certification, confirming the continued operation of its facilities to recognised standards.

“This assessment independently validates the controls we use across our data centre environment and reflects our continued focus on recognised standards.”
