Viatel Technology Group is set to enable 100G connectivity in Cork, Portlaoise, Drogheda and Dundalk in phase one of the major upgrade. More cities and towns will follow in later phases. Three diverse 100G paths into the UK, from Dublin and Cork, support the group's growing international interests. Amsterdam is poised for 100G enablement in the next phase of works.
This substantial technological advancement places Viatel alongside top-tier multinational operators, showcasing the company's commitment to delivering world-class services as an indigenous Irish business. This upgrade represents an impressive fivefold increase in capacity on select routes. It bolsters the connection between Viatel's three Dublin data centres and provides enhanced connectivity into AWS and Azure for the group's public cloud customers.
The upgrade is being delivered under the guidance of Head of Networks, Sergiusz Paprzycki. “Ensuring diversity and resilience within the network is a paramount focus of this project," Sergiusz explains. These works are being completed without any disruption to our current customers’ services.”
