Job Title: Quality Assurance and Application Support Manager
How long have you worked with us? I have been the Quality Assurance manager for 5 years and took on the role of support manager in September 2021, so about two years in my current role.
Tell us a little bit about your role please
I lead the QA team which is responsible for ensuring that our customers receive high quality software, and the software support team, who are the first port of call for our software customers if they experience an issue with their production applications. There is a lot of variety in the role, so rarely two days are the same.
Give us the highlights tour of your career to date
After I graduated from college, I was working in the finance sector, an opportunity came up to join a delivery team that was implementing new systems and products. I joined the team as a Test Lead. This is where I caught the testing bug😊. Since then, I have always worked in the software development sector as a tester/test lead. I joined ActionPoint (A Viatel technology Group Company) in May 2015 as the first software tester. Over the last 8 years, I have had the opportunity to define and implement the QA processes and to also grow the team. The team has grown from just being myself to a team of 5 QA engineers. It’s been a great experience; I have learned loads along the way and extremely proud of what we have achieved so far.
What do you love most about working with Viatel?
I really like my job. I really enjoy working in the software team, we have a lot of variety in our projects and even though it can be stressful at times we still manage to have fun, there is a real team spirit which is fantastic. That spills over into the wider company, it has always been a fun place to work with a great team atmosphere throughout the company.
Describe yourself in three words
Fun, Approachable, Pragmatic.
Tell us something we don’t know about you
When I graduated from college, I wanted to be an accountant, thankfully for everyone’s sake I fell into the software development world and have never looked back 😊.
