Viatel & ActionPoint – The Journey So Far

Although it has only been a few months since Viatel’s acquisition of ActionPoint at the beginning of the year, we have already hit the ground running with some exciting collaborations within our teams and across some new projects with our clients. The most important step for senior management at both Viatel and ActionPoint, was to get to know each other, combine our skillsets and accelerate the integration of capabilities. The past 100 days in partnership have given us a glimpse of the bright future we have ahead of us. Check out some of the highlights of the partnership to date, below!

Leadership Team Meetup

Once the acquisition was announced, our Leadership Teams got together to put some exciting plans in motion. They also sat down to film a ‘Get to know us’ series to tell us more about the acquisition and to help us get to know each one a little better. Viatel CEO Paul Rellis and ActionPoint CEO David Jeffreys discussed our long-standing relationship and what the future holds. You can check out more in this series by heading to Viatel’s YouTube Channel.

Laura Lynn Steps Challenge & Ukraine Fundraiser

In February, we were delighted to take part in a 'Step Challenge' in aid of Viatel’s charity partner, Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice, to raise vital funds for the organisation.

Team members across ActionPoint, Viatel and Digiweb braved the often cold, wet and windy weather to reach a combined total of over 12 million steps in the month of February! Towards the end of the challenge, the world was rocked by the devastating news of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. Our team was eager to help in whatever way we could. Having raised vital funds for Laura Lynn, we also felt compelled to donate to the Irish Red Cross to support their efforts.

With the group matching the raised amount, we donated almost €9000 in total for the cause. Well done to our kind and dedicated team for raising funds and donating what they could to two extremely worthy causes.

Viatel acquires connectivity service provider WiFiber

In February, Viatel were thrilled to announce the acquisition of Wifiber, the newest addition to the group.

Wifiber is a business and residential broadband connectivity service provider based in Co. Wicklow, bringing a top-class service to both business and residential customers across the east coast region. In addition, Wifiber serves key business segments and counts The National Concert Hall, DLR County Council, EastCoast FM, RTE and CRH amongst its business customers. We are very excited to welcome the Wifiber team on board and look forward to what the next few months of partnership bring!

Management Meetup

The Management teams headed to ActionPoint HQ to map out future plans and how best to serve our customers as an end-to-end Digital Transformation Services provider. However, it wasn’t all shop talk as the gang enjoyed a meal, a few drinks and even squeezed in a morning run the next day!

ActionPoint – Viatel Team BBQ

There’s nothing like good food and great company to bring people together and we did just that with our team-wide BBQ hosted at ActionPoint’s HQ in Limerick. This was the first in-person meeting for the wider teams and a fantastic way to get to know each other and have a bit of craic throughout the day!

Ireland V Scotland- Aviva Stadium

Our rugby enthusiasts headed to the Aviva Stadium to watch Ireland V Scotland and thoroughly enjoyed their Hospitality Passes, along with the brilliant win!

International Women’s Day panel

To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, we held a virtual panel discussion made up of Eilish O’Connor- CTO at Viatel, Mary Kenny- Head of C&D at ActionPoint, Michelle Leo- Customer Experience Manager at ActionPoint and hosted by Michaela Keating, Content Marketing Executive at ActionPoint. The theme of this year's event was ‘Break the Bias’ and to honour that, our panelists spoke about a range of topics including their own inspirations, journeys to leadership and how we can #BreaktheBias when it comes to women in tech.

Viatel Spring Lunch

The Viatel Team hosted a fantastic lunch to kick off the new season, with delicious food and some freshly brewed coffee for all. It was great to get everyone together again to catch up and enjoy an outdoor feast!

Sales Team Meetup

With our joint offering providing a whole host of new opportunities for our clients, our sales teams got together to learn about our different services. The day was jam- packed with lots of collaboration, idea generation and workshops.

Azure Virtual Desktop Webinar

Head of Microsoft Cloud Solutions at ActionPoint was joined by Enterprise Account Director at Viatel Eimear Nealon to deliver an informative webinar on the features of Azure Virtual Desktop for both ActionPoint and Viatel customers. This provided a great introduction to some one of Microsoft’s newest offerings.

Credit Union Manager’s Association Conference (CUMA)

Our Credit Union teams were delighted to attend the Credit Union Manager’s Association (CUMA) Conference at the beginning of April. It was a pleasure to meet some old and new faces again. One lucky attendee even scooped up our prize of a European Break for two on the day! It was great to work together and gave us a taste of the collaboration we will continue to have in the coming months as we grow together.

Over the past weeks and months both our business and capabilities continue to scale, allowing us to deliver innovative products and services to our customers across Ireland. However, the key takeaway for us over the first 100 days has not been product or service related, rather it's been the fantastic people we have in our business. Truly exceptional team members with an unwavering passion for our products, services and most importantly for our customers. This passion is demonstrated day in day out across our Viatel, ActionPoint and Digiweb teams and will allow us to stand strong and continue to deliver market leading innovation for our customers, for many more 100 days in the future.

Look forward to our next update 😊
