Name: Damien Lee

Job Title: Head of Software Services

How long have you been in your current role? I took on the Head of Software Services role in November 2021, so about 18 months or so.

Tell us a little bit about your role please

I look after the commercial software team, leading a fantastic group of software developers, testers, project managers and business analysts. We build custom software for a wide variety of clients here in Ireland, in the UK and also over in the US. We have managed to document a lot of our processes over the last few years so my role is to ensure that the team work within the processes and continue to build high quality software. Our team has had its busiest ever period in the last 6 months so it’s been highly challenging, but very exciting time to be part of the software team.

Give us the highlights tour of your career to date

I’ve had my own license for a pub in Liverpool and worked in software sales for a while. I then ran my own business for 8 years, building software for Premier League and European soccer clubs. I had clients such as Arsenal (my club!), Man City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich. It was great fun but highly stressful. I came to ActionPoint (A Viatel Technology Group company) in a project manager role, moved up to programme management a year later and then the management at ActionPoint took a chance and gave me the vacant Head of Software Services role in Nov 2021. John and Dave gave me an opportunity and I’ll always be grateful to them for it.

What do you love most about working with us?

I like my job, I really do. I have always loved working with the software team and the company in general has always been a fun place to work. I have some great managers that work alongside me, and we all get on very well, while working within a fast paced environment..
