VTLWaveNet today announced the launch of its Carrier Ethernet product. The Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) service is available in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris enabling customers to benefit from increased bandwidth granularity and a highly competitive cost using the familiar LAN standard linking the major Internet Exchanges in Europe.
“EVPL is a scalable Layer 2 Ethernet product using MPLS technology to offer an extremely flexible anywhere-to-anywhere connectivity solution,” said Dave Cribbs SVP Marketing at VTLWaveNet. “It can be configured as a Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multipoint solution with the choice of 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps port interfaces to support granular levels of bandwidth from 2 Mbps to 5 Gbps. This flexibility makes it extremely scalable for customers who want be able to increase bandwidth over time as their traffic volumes increase”.
“VTLWaveNet works with the main European Internet Exchanges to provide ISPs and hosting companies across Europe with an easy, cost effective way to peer locally which will add diversity to their network and allow access to a broader range of peering relations thus reducing infrastructure & IP transit costs,” continued Cribbs.
ABOUT VTLWaveNet
VTLWaveNet, part of the Viatel group, focuses on the European wholesale market. VTLWaveNet combines an advanced fibre optic backbone network with metro reach into the major business centres accessing carrier houses, data centres and the main Internet Exchanges. This enables the company to offer its customers leased lines, wavelengths, Ethernet, IP-Transit, co-location and dark fibre services. Because VTLWaveNet owns the underlying infrastructure and has equipped the network with the latest high capacity optical DWDM technology and multi service platforms, it can offer these services quickly, very cost effectively, at all speeds and with all the routing and (low) latency information required.
