Viatel launches turbocharged broadband service for reliable and cost-effective business critical applications

MAXStream Broadband triples upstream bandwidth on uncontended ADSL service

Bracknell, UK, September 2007: Viatel today announced the launch of MAXStream Broadband; its new uncontended ADSL service aimed at helping SMEs to take advantage of business critical applications more reliably and cost-effectively than previously possible. Viatel MAXStream is an uncontended (1:1) service, which offers three times the upstream bandwidth (832kbps) of traditional ADSL. Not only does this service guarantee performance, because it is not shared, it also allows you to run higher capacity applications including more VoIP calls than previously possible on ADSL.

One of the problems that companies have traditionally faced with ADSL lines is that their upstream bandwidths are ‘capped’ at a maximum of 256kbps. said Steve Powell, connectivity manager, Viatel. Business communications frequently require as much upload bandwidth as download, but very often they don’t have access to technologies such as SDSL, or can’t afford leased lines. Because MAXStream is an ADSL technology, it is affordable and even the symmetrical option is available to 99.97% of the UK.

The service is available now and can be bought as 512kbps up and download (giving a symmetrical service), 1Mbps and 2Mbps download (both with up to 832kbps upload).
