Auto Attendant
The Auto Attendant application is hosted in Viatel’s IP network and typically sold with IP Voice or Hosted IP Voice. The service offers the ability for inbound calls to be directed to an interactive digit response system which plays announcements and accepts digit inputs from the caller to navigate through a menu to terminate to a particular destination. E.g. Dial 1 for Sales, dial 2 for customer service, dial 3 for a Receptionist.
The use of tailored announcements and structured inbound call handling can make a small company seem much bigger and more professional. In practice, the call volumes to an existing and over-worked receptionist can reduce potentially negating the need to add future resource.
