VTLWaveNet fibre supports 1650km SURFnet 100Gb/s deployment
VTLWaveNet is pleased to announce that since July 2011 its international fibre route between Amsterdam and Geneva (CERN) has been successfully used by SURFnet to deploy a high speed, ultra long-haul 100Gb/s Wavelength. This is believed to be the longest 100Gb/s connection deployed as the route covers 1650 kilometres over 23 fibre spans.

VTLWaveNet Expands Network in Switzerland and Italy
VTLWaveNet has today announced the further expansion of its DWDM network in Europe. Following the roll-out of the DWDM network last month to Geneva and Marseille, VTLWaveNet has now extended its wavelength services to Bern thus completing the network between Geneva and Zurich. Additionally the network has also been extended from Zurich down to Milan to provide connectivity into Italy.

Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Limited (“VHB”) has today announced the expansion of its DWDM network in Europe. Viatel sells retail business to MDNX
Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Limited (“VHB”) today 4th October 2010 announced the sale of its UK Retail business VTL (UK) Ltd to MDNX Holding Ltd (“MDNX”).Viatel had already separated the UK Retail business from the European Network business and had been operating them as independent business units for the last year.VHB will continue to operate its European Network and business, selling Bandwidth, Fibre, Ethernet and Co-location as usual.
