About VTLWaveNet

In 2006 Viatel enhanced its network reach with metro fibre in 8 additional European cities and in early 2007 upgraded the network with next generation DWDM equipment from Huawei. Since that time we have added points of presence with Wavelength and Ethernet capabilities in the main European business centres, accessing many data centres, carrier houses and internet exchanges. In doing so we have greatly extended the depth of our reach, and at this moment we have a total of over 100 POP's operational.

VTLWaveNet, was set-up early in 2007 to exploit the combination of this advanced European network with metro fibre reach into major business districts, to offer its customers Wavelengths up to 40Gbps (both protected and unprotected), Leased Lines up to STM-64, IP Transit, Ethernet, Co-location and Dark Fibre. VTLWaveNet’s key market segments are the Wholesale Carriers and the ISP/ASP market.

The core activity of VTLWaveNet includes operating the extensive European long distance network (7,100 km fibre route) in the UK, Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.  We also own and operate 8 metro networks in the main European business centres. The VTLWaveNet fibre (wholly owned diverse subsea cables) between UK and continental Europe avoids the Channel Tunnel and the Docklands and therefore provides redundancy to most other providers.

The VTLWaveNet Network is monitored around the clock from our International Network Operations Centre (INOC) at our headquarters in Egham, UK.
